Product Description
Goes behind the scenes of the rehearsals from April to June 2009 for Michael Jackson's sold-out concerts at London's 02 Arena.

It's hard not to watch This Is It without feeling a mixture of sorrow and elation. When he passed away in the summer of 2009, Michael Jackson was in the midst of rehearsals for his final tour, an ambitious 50-date engagement. In editing 120 hours of rehearsal footage together, Jackson producer Kenny Ortega proves that it would've been an event for the ages. Michael performs material that spans his career, from a Motown medley to multi-platinum hits from Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Though he hadn't toured in 10 years, it becomes instantly apparent, despite rumors to the contrary, that Jackson was still in full possession of that unmistakable voice--high-pitched whoops and all--and that he still had the gravity-defying moves of a man half his age. Jackson and Ortega also collaborated on some real showstoppers, such as a graveyard-set "Thriller"; an imposing "They Don't Care About Us," in which several dancers appear to morph into thousands; and a film noir sequence in which the singer slides in and out of Gilda and other black-and-white classics, singing "Smooth Criminal" all the while. Not everything works, like the Jackson 5 numbers, in which he flubs a few lyrics, claiming that his earpiece isn't working properly, but as he readily acknowledges, "That's what rehearsal is for." It's a tragedy that he didn't get the chance to share this dazzling show with the world, but Ortega allows fans to feel as if it actually happened--at least onscreen. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars A MUST SEE!!!   September 9, 2010
Casey G. Murray (Cohutta, GA USA)
When I first heard that This Is It was going to be made into a movie, I was estatic! I counted down the days of the release and bought my ticket 2 months in advance and waited in line to get into the theatre and it was worth the wait! This Is It is probably the most extroidinary concernt documentary that anyone could ever create! When Michael Jackson died on June 25th, the world stopped turning for 24 hours and a part of it died with him. This is by FAR the best DVD to ever come out of 2010 and I recommend it to anyone who loves Michael and i'm sure by now every single of of Michael Jacksons TRUE fans have this DVD.

In the This Is It DVD, Michael is not portrayed as a fragile, sick, old man the media made him out to be. You see him smiling, dancing, joking, having so much fun being back where he feels at home the most. You can tell he could not wait to show the entire world his greatest creation EVER! He is totally like a kid again, giddy with excitement and you can see that come out in every dance step that he takes. From the start of Wanna Be Startin Somethin' to Man In The Mirror, you will be glued to this DVD and to Michael as he reherses for his final concernt that the world never got to see LIVE.

This show received so much hype, I guess I was expecting too much. It was just OK.

5 out of 5 stars Great production, what a genius!   August 30, 2010
MAURICIO CUERVO (FOLSOM, CA, US)
This video was created from a series of rehearsals for the last concert that MJ was planning to do in London for 1 year (~50 concerts).

I can summarize this as simply AMAZING! I would have loved to be in his concert. What a genius MJ was.

I loved every moment of that video. It is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

You should really see this. It shows how hard working he really was and of course, his creativity.
